Veronica Hearst is not well known as a socialite but her effortless dedication and contributions to charitable causes adds to her popularity. She is an active worker in charity organizations and art community. As far as the art community is concerned Veronica Hearst has been worked a lot for preserving, educating, and celebrating achievement of different artists of different nationalities. Moreover, she is the founder of “Save America’s Treasure Program”. This program was founded by Veronica Hearst to preserve and protect the historical sites of United States. This organization is a joint project of National Trust and White house to work towards the preservation of these historical sites. It has been successful in restoration of many historical sites, but the best example of her effortless dedication and commitment to her work is the restoration of Walker Evans which is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was considered to be the most endangered historic sites of United States.
Moreover, she is the founding member and special advisor of the White House Millennium Council. The aim of this council is same as that of her prior program i.e. preservation and restoration of history in United States by giving honor to the Americans who made a lot of scientific and cultural contributions in the 20th Century. Furthermore, she is the head of National Leadership Council for Americans for Arts (AFTA) since 1998.
This organization by the help of 4000 local agencies works towards the creation of opportunities for Americans to participate in arts. She is even the chairman of National Awards Program for AFTA, which deals with the recognition of achievements of Americans in areas like performing arts, advocacy and philanthropy. Being a supporter of new Metropolitan Museum of Art, she is its founding member as well as member of photography committee for 15 years.
